Books-A-Million Raises Funds to Help Alabama Tornado Victims

Books-A-Million hosts Salvation Army donation drive to support those affected in the recent tornado disaster

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--The tornado disaster that recently hit southern Alabama has devastated countless homes and businesses. To assist the thousands of victims, Books-A-Million is joining in on the relief efforts by holding a Salvation Army donation drive through Sunday, March 10. Customers participating in the drive will be able to select a donation amount for the initiative at checkout, where every dollar raised will be used to support those affected in Alabama. Stores throughout the affected areas are included in this effort to provide relief for those impacted by the storms.

“The devastation is dramatic and the affected regions can use all the support everyone can offer. Our thoughts go out to all those that were and continue to be impacted by the events over the weekend,” said Scott Kappler, chief marketing officer for Books-A-Million. “Being part of the community is so important to us and this is just another gesture to help our neighbors after this storm. Our hope is that other organizations will reach out and help in any way possible at this time.”

“The Salvation Army is always ready to serve neighbors impacted by a natural disaster,” said Major DeeAnn Glick, Birmingham Salvation Army Area Commander. “In addition to meeting the physical needs of those affected, The Salvation Army is providing emotional and spiritual care, which is expected to be a significant need in the wake of this storm. Books-A-Million has a long history of partnership to make communities stronger and we are especially grateful for their support of our relief efforts.”
