Sherry Chen, a Civil Servant Restored

Even though espionage charges were dropped in a lengthy struggle with the federal government, award-winning civil servant and hydrologist Sherry Chen was fired from the National Weather Service in 2015. A few days ago, Chen received vindication as a U.S. judge of the Merit Systems Protection Board ordered the organization to restore her position and provide backpay. For her first public appearance after the ruling, Chen will share her story at a May 4, 10:30 a.m. PT press conference and TED-style talk at the C100 annual conference on May 6.

Chen will be accompanied by Brian Sun, managing partner of the Los Angeles office of the international law firm, Jones Day. Sun previously represented Wen Ho Lee in a winning court case, where Lee, a Chinese-American, was wrongfully accused of espionage 20 years ago.
