DXC Technology Announces DXC Applications Security on Demand for Automated Applications Security Testing as a Service

DXC named first global managed service provider for Micro Focus Fortify on Demand

TYSONS, Va.--()--DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, today announced the launch of DXC Applications Security on Demand, a consumption-based applications security testing service that helps clients identify and remediate vulnerabilities during the development lifecycle.

With the launch of the new service, powered by Micro Focus software, DXC becomes the first global Fortify on Demand managed service provider. The new service demonstrates DXC’s strong strategic partner relationship with Micro Focus, which is part of the DXC Partner Network.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, applications have become the primary source for successful IT security attacks, with 90 percent of reported incidents exploiting defects in the design or code of software.1 The average cost of a data breach was $3.62 million in 2017, and often created irreparable damage to the reputation of a company.2

“Implementing security protection and assurance mechanisms throughout the software development lifecycle is more important than ever. DXC Applications Security on Demand provides this capability in a cloud consumption-based model,” said Mike Klaus, senior vice president and general manager, Application Services, DXC Technology. “We address our clients’ application security early and continuously through the entire lifecycle, reducing both cost and risk, enabling them to deliver secure applications more efficiently.”

DXC Applications Security on Demand proactively safeguards DXC clients’ critical data to mitigate risk from unsecure applications.

“The combination of our industry-leading security detection software and DXC’s service capabilities provides its clients with a compelling and differentiated offering that significantly reduces lifecycle and maintenance costs, while enhancing security readiness,” said John Delk, chief product officer and general manager of the Security Products Group at Micro Focus.

DXC Applications Security on Demand enables:

  • Static Security Testing: Static assessments provide security scanning, auditing and reporting on a variety of programming. Using industry-leading tools, source code analysis of applications is completed with expert validation and reporting.
  • Dynamic Security Testing: Dynamic assessments provide security scanning, auditing and reporting for any web-based application in an active environment.
  • Mobile Security: Mobile assessments provide security scanning, auditing and reporting on all business applications for iOS and Android devices.

“Companies are recognizing the need to think more proactively about applications security, making their applications more accessible, and offering developers the tools they need to build security directly into the DevOps process,” said Jan Erik Aase, director and principal analyst, Information Services Group (ISG), a leading global technology research and advisory firm. “They are looking for solutions that are simple, economical, and scalable that help them meet more stringent legal and compliance regulations, such as the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements in Europe.”

“DXC delivers applications security services across a wide range of applications platforms, protocols and languages,” said Chris Moyer, vice president and general manager, Security Services, DXC Technology. “DXC Applications Security on Demand is one of several solutions available through the DXC Applications security portfolio, helping clients predict attacks, proactively respond to threats, ensure compliance, and protect data and applications.”
