STAMFORD, Conn.--()--HARMAN International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., was recognized at the 2018 Daimler Supplier Awards for their outstanding technology and innovation to realize the all-new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system. The honor focused on HARMAN’s extraordinary performance, innovation, collaboration, and leadership in system integration to deliver an unparalleled user experience.

Once a year, the Daimler Supplier Awards are presented for above-average performance and partnership collaboration from the automaker’s suppliers. Performance is measured in terms of quality, costs, delivery-reliability and innovative power. Furthermore, co-operative and moral behavior is also evaluated, underscoring the tenets of trust and open communication between Daimler and its suppliers.

With a long-standing history of supplying future-looking solutions to vehicles that are considered benchmarks in luxury and technology, HARMAN is delighted to collaborate with Daimler as an innovation partner to bring Daimler’s vision of MBUX to life. The industry’s most advanced and powerful infotainment platform, MBUX offers best-in-class graphics supporting a beautiful and intuitive HMI. Fully connected in real time, MBUX is a true service platform, and remains “evergreen” with full over-the-air software updates. The system represents a giant leap forward in real natural language speech interface, and leverages artificial intelligence to learn the driver’s habits and preferences for a more familiar and convenient experience.

It is a true honor for HARMAN to be recognized for our partnership and contributions to Daimler’s success. Our passion to continue building on our 70-year relationship with Daimler burns stronger than ever as together we drive the future of automotive technologies,” said Dinesh Paliwal, President and Chief Executive Officer at HARMAN. “Now with the power of Samsung, HARMAN is expanding the traditional supplier-customer boundaries to design with Daimler totally immersive, differentiated experiences for drivers and passengers everywhere. On behalf of HARMAN’s many talented engineers and software developers, I am extremely proud to accept this prestigious award.”

HARMAN is also proud to introduce Augmented Reality (AR) Navigation onboard MBUX, which blends turn-by-turn directions with AR visuals to transport the navigation user interface into the digital age. As automated driving features continue to become more ubiquitous, the augmented reality features can more clearly and intuitively communicate actions to help drivers feel more comfortable as they transition between active driving and autonomous states.
