NeuroPace Launches New RNS® Tablet at 2017 American Epilepsy Society Annual Meeting

Tablet offers physicians an unprecedented ‘window to the brain’

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--NeuroPace, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based medical technology company that developed the world’s first and only closed-loop brain-responsive neurostimulation system for epilepsy, today announced the launch of the new RNS® Tablet—an innovative way for clinicians to review their patients’ electrocorticographic (ECoG) data and personalize therapy. The Tablet will be on display and available for use during hands-on workshops at the American Epilepsy Society’s (AES) Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. from December 1-5 at booth 1101.

“Since its inception, the RNS System has provided physicians unprecedented access to information about their patients’ brain activity,” said NeuroPace CEO Frank Fischer. “The RNS Tablet provides quicker access to this information with the data presented in formats that are easily understandable and actionable by physicians. As a result, physicians will be able to optimize patient therapy more efficiently.”

The RNS Tablet was designed in partnership with clinicians to provide a simpler, smarter, and faster user experience. Product enhancements allow clinicians to review and analyze data more quickly, garner a deeper understanding of their patients’ brain activity, and increase clinical workflow efficiency.

“Having access to patient data in a centralized, easy-to-use interface is invaluable when monitoring patient progress and personalizing therapy,” says Dr. Vikram Rao, Epileptologist at UCSF Medical Center.

The Tablet, which boasts an intuitive touchscreen and color interface that automatically connects to the internet, also features:

  • Simpler: An integrated, wireless platform that combines the traditional NeuroPace Programmer and online Patient Data Management System (PDMS) into a singular interface.
  • Smarter: An interactive, customizable visual histogram that displays trends in neurostimulator and ECoG data to enable meaningful insights.
  • Faster: Various upgrades that decrease the number of clicks needed to program, including the ability to copy stimulation settings to all five treatments with one click.

About the NeuroPace RNS® System
The RNS System is the world’s first and only closed-loop brain-responsive neurostimulation system designed to prevent epileptic seizures at their source. The RNS System treats seizures by continuously monitoring brain waves, detecting unusual activity, and automatically responding with imperceptible electrical pulses before seizures occur. Physicians can program the detection and stimulation parameters of the implanted RNS neurostimulator to personalize therapy for each individual. The RNS® System is an adjunctive therapy for adults with refractory, partial onset seizures with no more than 2 epileptogenic foci.
