A “Real Life” Ferdinand Finds a Home at The Gentle Barn Courtesy of Partners Twentieth Century Fox Film and Zevia

LOS ANGELES--()--Twentieth Century Fox, in partnership with The Gentle Barn and Zevia, have adopted a bull calf and named him “Ferdinand” in honor of the upcoming film FERDINAND, in theaters nation-wide December 15, 2017. Ferdinand has been welcomed with open arms by The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita, CA., where he will join the family of animal ambassadors who teach children to have kindness and compassion for all living beings. For the first time ever, families and animal lovers everywhere will be able to follow the life of Ferdinand in real-time via ongoing social media posts from 20th Century Fox (https://www.facebook.com/FerdinandMovie/) and The Gentle Barn (https://www.facebook.com/TheGentleBarn/) and can also come visit the California Gentle Barn location to meet him in person.

FERDINAND tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, FERDINAND proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover.

From Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha, the director of RIO, and inspired by the beloved book “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson, FERDINAND is a heartwarming animated comedy adventure with an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson and many more.

“The Gentle Barn is a place of healing, where children learn that even though we might look different on the outside, we’re all the same on the inside. The Story of Ferdinand is so important because it represents the universal idea that each one of us deserves a chance to be who we really are,” says Ellie Laks, Founder of The Gentle Barn. “For almost 20 years, The Gentle Barn has been working with animals and children who share similar stories of struggle and perseverance and it feels amazing to be partnering with a major, mainstream studio, who is distributing a movie that inspires so much positive messaging of love, courage and triumph. My hope is that Ferdinand will not only raise awareness, but will bring about great change in the way people think. To point, this project has allowed us to save the life of a young bull who will grow into a symbol of hope for future generations to know.”

“Zevia’s partnership with FERDINAND creates a positive message that families can share with their children, and we are excited to extend it even further through this special adoption with The Gentle Barn. Zevia is creating better products to support the health of families across the country, and just like Ferdinand, we’re proud to be different from the rest of the herd." – Paddy Spence, Zevia CEO
