Utah Takes First Place in Digital Government Experience

Utah.Gov Recognized for Innovation in Government and Citizen Services

SALT LAKE CITY--()--The Center for Digital Government awarded Gov. Gary R. Herbert with first place in the Government Experience Awards. Utah also won two additional category awards and special recognition for innovation. After 20 years of the Best of the Web Awards, the Center for Digital Government updated the competition this year to evaluate the new environment for online services. The Government Experience Awards recognize the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that excel at creating useful online government services and applications.

“Our state is once again being recognized as a national leader in providing valuable online tools that make government more accessible to citizens,” said Gov. Gary Herbert. “We are honored that the Center for Digital Government has chosen to recognize Utah’s efforts with this first place award.”

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and sets the standard for measuring best practices in state and local government.

“We work hard to provide the very best online services for Utahns," said Mike Hussey, Utah state Chief Information Officer. "It is very satisfying to be recognized by the Center for Digital Government.”

In addition to Utah’s First Place award Utah.Gov services won category awards for:

  • Government-to-Citizen Experience Award: Utah Hunting and Fishing Services
  • Government-to-Government Experience Award: Utah Public Meeting Notice

Utah also received special recognition by winning the Center for Digital Government Innovation Award for Predictive Government Through Google Now and Amazon Alexa.
