FRANKFORT, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kylie Rapp, a junior at Clinton Prairie Junior-Senior High School, was awarded $25,000 for college as part of Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. Representatives from Sallie Mae, the nation’s saving, planning, and paying for college company, along with Elaine Brovont, Club leader of the Clinton County 4-H Lama Club, who nominated Rapp for the scholarship, were all on hand for last night’s surprise reveal as part of a meeting of the club at the Clinton County Fairgrounds Show Barn.
Rapp, 16, is president of the Clinton County 4-H Lama Club, where she helps members learn how to show and care for llamas and alpacas. An advanced placement student with a 3.76 GPA, she is captain of her volleyball team, mentors younger students, and is active in the school’s Key Club and Science Club.
“This scholarship will truly change my life,” said Rapp. “I’m so grateful to Elaine for nominating me, and to Sallie Mae for helping me pay for college.”
Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarships recognize inspiring high school juniors and seniors nationwide who excel in academics, athletics, community service, or school activities, but whose financial circumstances may not permit them to fulfill their college dreams. This year, Sallie Mae will award $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarships to five recipients selected from nominations submitted by high school counselors and community leaders from across the U.S.
“Kylie has always excelled academically, athletically, and personally, and I can think of no one more deserving of this scholarship,” said Brovont. “Winning this scholarship will create countless opportunities for her as she continues to grow and succeed.”
This is the second year of Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. In addition to company contributions, Sallie Mae employees organized a host of fundraising events, raising more than $57,000 to support the scholarship recipients.
