SALT LAKE CITY--()--DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL Group, announced it is expanding its presence in Salt Lake City, Utah in order to satisfy the needs of local customers who require air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, warehouse storage and domestic services. The Salt Lake City station opening forms part of DHL’s strategic plan to grow its supply chain services in key cities across the U.S.

“To better serve our customers in the communities in which we operate, we recognized it was vital to have a strong presence with local experts in varying size markets,” said David Goldberg, U.S. CEO for DHL Global Forwarding. “As DHL continues positioning itself for growth in more and more U.S. cities, DHL customers will benefit from a more personalized service from experts who understand both the nuances of global and domestic trade and the ways to navigate the complexities to help customers save time and money.”

With a central U.S. location that is almost equidistant from major Western U.S. markets, Salt Lake City also stood out to DHL for its thriving industries, which include technology, vitamin and supplements, diet-related products, probiotics, aerospace, logistics and outdoor activities. In fact, Salt Lake City is frequently noted as a potential "Silicon Valley"-like location after major e-commerce companies have opened facilities in the city. According to the Utah Economic Council1, the state of Utah in general has seen healthy growth year-over-year, with industries experiencing substantial employment growth across all industries (totaling to almost 49,500 jobs created in 2016).

“Salt Lake City is one of the best places for new businesses in the U.S.,” said Josh Rennert, Salt Lake City station manager. “DHL’s investment in Salt Lake City means local companies can collaborate with a reliable logistics partner that is dedicated to helping their businesses grow.”

As part of its efforts to reach out to the local community and share relevant information that is important to businesses importing and exporting to and from the U.S., DHL Global Forwarding will hold an educational training course on the International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS® 2010) on September 19 in its Salt Lake City office. INCOTERMS are pre-defined commercial terms and rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce for the delivery of goods under sales contracts for domestic and international trade. DHL Global Forwarding’s Salt Lake City station employs nine employees and is located only three miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport. To date, DHL has solidified its presence in 15 cities across the U.S., with plans to have 36 U.S. stations by the end of 2017.
