CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™ (PTCE™), a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, managed care and specialty pharmacists, will host “Improving Outcomes in Cystic Fibrosis: Role of the Specialty Pharmacist,” on September 19, 2017, during the annual National Association of Specialty Pharmacy meeting at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. Discussion topics will include protocols for screening and diagnosing cystic fibrosis, cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modular therapy and qualifying patients, patient counseling, and adherence to therapy.
“Specialty pharmacists are responsible for some of the most cutting-edge and highly complex drugs that are used to treat diseases, including cancer, HIV, AIDS and cystic fibrosis. This program will comprise all that specialty pharmacists need to know about cystic fibrosis to better assist their patients. We will not only educate the pharmacists and managed care professionals, but also provide them with a networking platform where they can exchange ideas with their peers,” said David Heckard, president of PTCE™.
This hour-long program will feature Rhonita Mitchell, PharmD, CSP, as the faculty presenter. Dr. Mitchell serves as a specialty pharmacist for Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. During this symposium, she will delve into topics that cover improving patient access to the newest cystic fibrosis therapies and the importance of communication for a specialty pharmacist with medical professionals and their patients.
PTCE™ together with Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated will offer 1 CE contact hour to attendees of this symposium. For more information and to register, visit www.pharmacytimes.org/cf2017.
