Iowa Virtual Academy Set to Kick Off 2017-2018 School Year

Online Public School Students Return to Virtual Classes on August 23rd

GARNAVILLO, Iowa--()--Students and teachers at Iowa Virtual Academy (IAVA), an online public school program of Clayton Ridge Community School District, will begin the 2017-18 school year on Aug. 23rd. A full-time, tuition-free school for students statewide in grades K-12, IAVA offers a rigorous and engaging curriculum and a supportive learning community.

"IAVA allows students to learn in ways that meet their unique needs," says Head of School Steve Hoff. "Thanks to the flexibility of online learning and our rigorous curriculum, we provide our students with the support they need to succeed."

IAVA students tackle a full course load in the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science, history, art, music and physical education across all grade levels. For high school students, IAVA offers more than 150 core, elective and Advanced Placement® courses, and up to four levels of world languages. Lesson plans in each grade are integrated across subjects, so students can apply what they are learning in one class to the lessons they encounter in another.

Iowa-licensed teachers facilitate live, interactive online classes, and communicate one-on-one with students via phone and email. IAVA provides families from across the state with an innovative education option, and with personalized learning plans to meet the needs of every student.

In addition to the virtual classroom, IAVA students have access to resources such as books, workbooks, and materials for experiments and projects. Students become adept at using technology for their course work, projects and time management, and have the opportunity throughout the year to meet their teachers and classmates in person, through school outings, field trips and social events.

IAVA is still accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. To learn more about enrollment visit http://iava.k12.com/how-enroll.html.
