Hoosier Academies Set to Kick Off 2017-2018 School Year

Online Public Charter School Students to Return to Virtual Classes on August 21st

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Hoosier Academies, a public charter school offering a fully online program (Hoosier Academy Virtual School) and an online and in-person blended program (Hoosier Academy Indianapolis), will begin the 2017-18 school year on Aug. 21st. Hoosier Academies offer students a rigorous and engaging curriculum, as well as a unique opportunity to find an academic setting that is right for them.

Hoosier Academy Indianapolis offers a blended program where students participate in twice-weekly, in-person instruction at the school’s Indianapolis Learning Center. The remainder of the week’s courses are completed online. Hoosier Academy Virtual School classes are held entirely online.

Indiana-certified teachers lead courses at both schools, providing one-on-one support to students and their families through email, phone and face-to-face meetings.

“Whether it’s talking with students and their families in class or on the phone, teaching at an online school allows me to customize lessons for each student,” says middle school math teacher Jill Landers.

Students across all grade levels take the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science, history, art and physical education/wellness, as well as electives and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students.

In addition to their classes, students at both schools attend regular outings to museums, parks, and other educational sites. Students also participate in enrichment opportunities such as clubs, science fairs, poetry competitions and more, fostering connections across the Hoosier Academies community.
