How Security Visualization Works
Energy providers can use the visualization feature to group together all of the substation systems on their network. These asset groups could further be classified by voltage output levels, management system vendor, or geography for example. Thus, if a breach happens in a geography or to a vendor partner, the vulnerability can be quickly isolated.
Without this grouping, security staff would not instantly know if a third-party vendor is hacked or which internal systems might be affected by that hack, so they could not move quickly to respond before it becomes a problem. In large networks with tens of thousands of systems and vendors, it could take hours to determine vulnerable systems without the grouping capability.
