Chartwell Investment Partners Launches Small-Cap Growth Fund

Veteran Portfolio Manager Frank Sustersic leads Chartwell’s growth team

BERWYN, Pa.--()--Chartwell Investment Partners, a subsidiary of TriState Capital Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSC), announced the launch of its Chartwell Small Cap Growth Fund. The Chartwell Small Cap Growth Fund (CWSGX) is available to individual investors and through major investment platforms, including Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Vanguard and Pershing.

The Chartwell Small Cap Growth Fund is a broadly diversified equity fund and is designed with the potential to outperform the Russell 2000 Growth Index. The portfolio sector weightings are derived from a bottom-up, fundamental investment approach. The new fund offers the opportunity to invest in the growth strategy led by Senior Portfolio Manager Frank Sustersic, CFA, who has 28 years of established investment success.

Sustersic leads the Chartwell small- and mid-cap growth team, where members’ tenure with the group averages more than 12 years. As of June 30, 2017, Sustersic’s team managed more than $400 million in assets under management (AUM) for Chartwell institutional and retail clients.

With the addition of the Chartwell Small Cap Growth Fund, we focus on identifying and investing in companies with specific competitive advantages and the ability to produce organic revenue growth, while generating stable to higher operating margins,” said Sustersic. “Ideally, each investment will have a specific catalyst that could increase its growth profile such as a new product launch or an acquisition.”

Sustersic has an established track record of achieving significant alpha for investors by consistently outperforming market benchmarks and leading high-performing teams of investment professionals. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at Lazard Asset Management for its US Small Cap Growth Equity Fund, and before that served in a small-cap equity portfolio management position with Turner Investment Partners. Sustersic began his career as a portfolio manager at First Fidelity Bank Corporation after earning his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

We’re pleased to have Frank leading the Chartwell Small Cap Growth Fund and our growth equity team,” said Chartwell Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer Tim Riddle. “We’re committed to providing the support and resources necessary to ensure that our small- and mid-cap growth products with sustainable growth companies offer an attractive risk/reward profile while aiming to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations which have been built on the long-term results of the Chartwell franchise.”

In addition to its small- and mid-cap growth products, Chartwell and its Berwyn Funds offer equity and fixed-income mutual funds and investment strategies to institutional, retail and individual investors. The available funds are the Chartwell Small Cap Value Fund (CWSIX), Chartwell Short Duration High Yield Fund (CWFIX), Berwyn Fund (BERWX), Berwyn Income Fund (BERIX) and Chartwell Mid Cap Value Fund (BERCX).
