Vizient, Inc. Hosts Congressional Briefing to Discuss Pharmaceutical Challenges and Solutions Facing America’s Hospitals

IRVING, Texas--()--Vizient, Inc. is hosting a congressional briefing titled, “Rx for Success,” which is aimed at discussing ways hospital providers nationwide are managing pharmaceutical use, mitigating rising prescription drug costs, helping avoid drug shortages and preparing for biosimilar adoption.

The briefing is scheduled for today, July 24, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington D.C. The goal of today’s briefing is to educate policy makers about providers’ challenges and engage in discussions across stakeholders to find solutions. A panel of experts will offer the hospitals’ perspectives. The panelists are:

  • Erin Fox, Senior Director, Drug Information and Support Services, University of Utah Health
  • Randy Gerwitz, Pharmacy Director, Erie County Medical Center
  • Dan Kistner, Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Solutions, Vizient

“Access to affordable drugs is one of the most critical challenges facing health care today,” says Kistner. “For the last few years, drug shortages have plagued hospitals and providers. In addition, recent headlines have been dominated by stories of drug price spikes. At Vizient, we believe it is a natural extension of our company’s purpose to lead and participate in discussions like this–and then work collaboratively to find innovative solutions.”
