Dorsey Partner Kim Severson Named Chair of Policy Committee

MINNEAPOLIS--()--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Minneapolis-based Tax Partner Kim Severson has been named Chair of the Firm’s Policy Committee, which operates as Dorsey’s board of directors. Ms. Severson succeeds New York-based Trial Partner Richard Silberberg, who served as Chair from 2015-2017.

Ms. Severson is the first woman to chair Dorsey’s Policy Committee in the Firm’s 105-year history.

Ms. Severson regularly advises clients on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and restructuring, corporate distributions and other transactions with shareholders, debt and equity financings, entity formation, securitizations and structured finance. She also provides tax planning advice to closely-held businesses, tax-exempt entities, and parties in bankruptcy proceedings.

Ms. Severson is also a member and Chair of the Board of Directors of The Dorsey & Whitney Foundation, a member and Immediate Past President of the Schubert Club, and a Trustee of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Foundation. She is a member of the State Bar of California and the Minnesota Bar Association.

Ms. Severson received BA degrees from St. Olaf College and from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. She received an MA degree from Princeton University and a JD degree from Stanford Law School.
