LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Petnet, the leader in personalized pet feeding, today announced its Amazon Alexa Skill. Now, SmartFeeder and Amazon Echo or Echo Show users can simply say, "Alexa, ask Petnet to feed Mittens 1 cup," and food is dispensed. Users can dispense anywhere between 1/16 and 1½ cups of food with the SmartFeeder - just by using their voice.
Carlos Herrera, CEO and co-founder of Petnet, said: “At Petnet, it’s our goal to make pet owners’ lives easier and provide them with the tools and information they need to ensure their dogs and cats are living healthy, happy lives. Today, we are excited to introduce a new way for SmartFeeder users to do just that, thanks to Petnet’s Amazon Alexa Skill. While the Petnet app guides pet owners to providing the right amount and kind of food for their specific pets, the Amazon Alexa integration makes feeding pets more convenient than ever.”
This new capability is especially helpful for those who have dogs and cats that wake them up extra early on days they are feeling particularly hungry. Instead of getting up to give them a snack, or even having to roll over and press the “feed” button on the Petnet app, all a user has to do is mutter a few words and food is dispensed.
In addition to the Alexa integration, Petnet also works with Nest Cam, enabling users to see their pet eating each meal. The Nest Cam motion detector senses when a pet cozies up to its SmartFeeder for a meal, so pet owners can monitor and note if their pets aren’t eating properly. Nest Cam also works with Amazon Alexa, meaning users can now ask the new Echo Show to display the Nest Cam video of the SmartFeeder by simply asking Alexa to do so.
The Petnet SmartFeeder, an automatic, connected pet feeder that enables pet owners to create a customized feeding schedule for their dog or cat, is available for $149 at Petnet.io, on Amazon and in Petco stores nationwide. Petnet, the leader in personalized pet feeding, provides pet owners with the tools and information they need to make healthier feeding choices for their specific dog or cat. According to the Association for the Prevention of Pet Obesity, an estimated 54 percent of dogs and 59 percent of cats in the U.S. are overweight or obese, meaning they are predisposed to a number of serious health issues. Petnet’s SmartBowl and SmartFeeder work with the Petnet app to recommend proper feeding portions based on a dog’s or cat’s specific age, weight, breed, activity level, and the recipe they eat. With the SmartFeeder, pet owners can create a customized feeding schedule for their dog or cat and rest assured that meals are always delivered on time - whether they’re home or not.
