Press Ganey Receives CMS Approval to Administer the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) CAHPS Survey

Nation’s Largest CAHPS Administrator Launches Solution to Help Medical Groups Meet New Quality Reporting Requirements

BOSTON--()--Press Ganey today announced the launch of its Merit-Based Incentive Payment System Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (MIPS CAHPS) survey solution, further expanding its portfolio of industry-leading CAHPS offerings. Press Ganey, a leading provider of patient experience measurement, performance analytics and strategic advisory solutions for healthcare organizations across the continuum of care, has received approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the 2017 MIPS CAHPS Survey.

MIPS CAHPS survey administration will take place between November 2017 and February 2018, but participating groups must register with CMS by June 30, 2017. Registration is now open and groups can register at the Quality Payment Program web site.

To work with Press Ganey on MIPS CAHPS administration, practices must enter into a contract with Press Ganey and notify CMS that they have selected Press Ganey as their vendor by September 19, 2017.

“Press Ganey is proud to have received CMS approval to administer MIPS CAHPS,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO, Press Ganey. “This addition to our comprehensive suite of CAHPS and improvement offerings demonstrates Press Ganey’s continued commitment to help healthcare organizations achieve enhanced performance in a value-driven healthcare marketplace.”

The Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is one track of the Quality Payment Program, under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The CAHPS for MIPS survey is an optional quality measure that groups participating in MIPS can elect to administer. The annual MIPS CAHPS survey mirrors the 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) CAHPS survey, capturing patient experience feedback about care received within group practices. The 12 key domains of patient experience include physician communication, shared decision-making, care coordination and access to care using a standard 81 question survey instrument. To help organizations prepare for the annual regulatory MIPS CAHPS survey and drive improvement throughout the year, Press Ganey is offering ongoing visit-specific survey solutions to prioritize targeted performance improvement efforts.

Through deep data collection, advanced analytics, expert advisory services and best practices, Press Ganey helps medical practices seeking to achieve greater improvement in their performance. More than 70% of U.S. medical practices with more than 50 physicians choose to work with Press Ganey, and Press Ganey is the largest CAHPS administrator in the country, with more than 8,500 participating organizations.
