RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ellucian, the leading global provider of higher education software and services, today announced the official opening of its new global headquarters in Reston, Virginia. Ellucian’s new office positions the company alongside other technology and business leaders in the growing Dulles Technology Corridor. Occupying three floors and approximately 98,000 square feet, the open-office was designed with the goal of facilitating collaborative thinking amongst employees while also providing the flexibility to accommodate meetings and personal working space.
“Ellucian develops technology that is purpose-built for higher education, and our new home is purpose-built for that all-important mission,” Ellucian President and CEO Jeff Ray said. “This state-of-the-art space creates an atmosphere just like that of the campuses we serve, where enabling student success is a unifying mission. Here, creativity, innovation and collaboration can flourish in an open environment where the passion we bring to our work is reflected in all that we achieve.”
He continued, “From the chairs to the desks to the names of the conference rooms, our employees were involved in every step along the planning process, so we know this facility matches the energy and excitement they bring to work every day. And as we continue to grow, we have no doubt it will help us continue to attract the top talent needed to drive the digital transformation of colleges and universities around the world.”
Gensler designed the space with the atmosphere of modern campuses in mind. The intent was to inspire Ellucian employees to walk in the shoes of the customers they serve, as they continue to develop services and solutions that shape the digital evolution of campuses worldwide. The collaborative space seats approximately 500 employees within walking distance of the thriving businesses located in Reston Town Center and the forthcoming Reston Town Center Metro station. Additionally, sustainable building practices and indoor environmental quality were key considerations during design and construction, and Ellucian has applied for LEED gold status.
“The growth of the greater Reston area is due in no small part to the innovative technology companies that make up our community,” Delegate Ken Plum (D-36) said. “The addition of Ellucian’s headquarters to the Dulles Technology Corridor continues this growth and brings a great value to Reston and the broader economy in Virginia. We welcome Ellucian’s expansion and thank them for their valued partnership.”
At a ribbon-cutting event today, employees and guests celebrated the new space. President and CEO of the Fairfax Economic Development Authority Dr. Gerald Gordon welcomed Ellucian to its new facility while Delegate Ken Plum expressed how the addition of the leading global software company in higher education to the Dulles Technology Corridor will further Ellucian's growth, as the area grows as well. Guests were treated to a champagne toast and a tour of the space, featuring a demonstration of the dorm room of the future in the Innovation Lab. Event photos available upon request.
