HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Satellite Tracking of People LLC (STOP), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Securus Technologies, Inc., announced the introduction of SoberTrack™, a mobile, handheld breath alcohol testing unit with GPS location capability. SoberTrack allows community supervision agencies to add alcohol monitoring to their programs to monitor compliance of probationers, parolees and pre-trial defendants who are ordered to abstain from alcohol use as a condition of their supervision.
“We are excited to expand our portfolio with a breath alcohol monitoring product,” stated Jon Secrest, Vice President, Managing Director, Electronic Monitoring Solutions for Securus Technologies. “Continuing our history of innovation, we worked closely with our customers to add features and capabilities into SoberTrack™ that are not available with other products in the market.”
A lightweight, handheld version of the breath alcohol test devices used by law enforcement, SoberTrack™ uses a DOT-grade sensing unit and adds GPS location technology to report and record the location of the unit before, during and after the test. The device alerts program participants to take a test at regular or random intervals. The unit’s camera takes a crisp, high-resolution photo to verify the identification of the test taker, even when lighting conditions are poor.
SoberTrack™ reports test results and GPS location data to VeriTracks™, the secure, web-based monitoring application developed exclusively by STOP for its suite of electronic monitoring products. Supervising agents use VeriTracks to review test results, location data and add notes about a given test. Agencies will now be able to use a single platform for their entire monitoring caseload, further enhancing their supervision tools.
