LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Allen Matkins, a California-based full service real estate and business law firm, announced today the return of tax partner Scott M. Dommes to its Los Angeles office. Scott rejoins the firm's tax and joint venture practice groups after spending the last year as in-house tax counsel at Chevron Corporation. Scott's return follows the recent return of real estate partner O'Malley M. Miller, who rejoined Allen Matkins after a lengthy period at Munger Tolles.

Prior to Allen Matkins and Chevron Corporation, Scott worked as a senior associate in the transaction advisory services group of Ernst & Young LLP, and before that, he was an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Latham & Watkins LLP. Scott regularly counsels clients on a broad range of income tax matters, including partnerships, corporations, mergers and acquisitions (taxable and tax-free), divestitures, restructurings and real estate transactions. In addition, Scott has extensive experience structuring, negotiating and documenting complex joint ventures and business transactions for equity investors, financial institutions, developers and others. His representative clients include private equity firms, real estate developers, hotel owners and operators, oil and gas companies, and small to large public and private companies.
Scott received his L.L.M. in Taxation, with first honors, from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, and his B.A. with honors, in Economics and English from the University of California, Davis.
