Boston Center for Addiction Treatment Expands Programming with Phoenix Multisport

Recovery Centers of America’s Boston Center for Addiction Treatment partners with Phoenix Multisport to offer health and wellness services for its patients, and the larger community

BOSTON--()--Recovery Centers of America (RCA), the fastest growing addiction treatment provider in the United States, today announced its Boston Center for Addiction Treatment will offer expanded wellness programming as the result of a new partnership with Phoenix Multisport.

Through pursuits such as climbing, hiking, running, yoga, socials, and other activities, Phoenix Multisport helps its members develop and maintain the emotional strength they need to stay sober. The supportive, physically active community Phoenix Multisport fosters for individuals recovering from a substance use disorder aligns with Recovery Centers of America’s community- and neighborhood-based treatment model.

The world-class clinical treatment provider offers evidence-based treatment at state-of-the-art facilities. Each neighborhood-based RCA addiction recovery center is rooted in community, allowing patients to stay close to their family and friends during the recovery process, and helping them build lasting support networks along the way.

Now, at the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment, Phoenix Multisport will provide health and wellness programming such as group personal training, general group fitness classes, yoga classes, and open gym times for patients. Additionally, RCA will sponsor a Phoenix Multisport Chapter to be operated out of the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment. The chapter will eventually offer at least one Phoenix Multisport community event per day free to anyone over the age of 16 who has at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety.

“With the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment, we’ve brought the region’s best clinicians, wellness practitioners, and addiction medicine specialists to Boston’s North Shore, and now, Phoenix Multisport joins that list,” says Brad Greenstein, chief executive officer of the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment. “We echo the Phoenix Multisport approach to recovery, which stresses the importance of community involvement and support, in our core treatment model. We are excited to offer social and physical activities to our patients as they navigate recovery, and to continue building a robust sober community in our own backyard.”

Phoenix Multisport will bring one full-time manager, one full-time fitness instructor, and one full-time yoga teacher, all highly trained, certified, and skilled to the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment. Programs offered by Phoenix will operate within already established schedules, avoiding scheduling changes that can set those in recovery back.

“Newly sober people must learn to make friends and discover healthy hobbies,” says Jacki Hillios, Deputy Executive Director for Phoenix Multisport. “Often, those in recovery have to abandon their past social circles entirely and form fresh support networks. Through this partnership, patients at the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment will have an outlet to build new friendships and establish a different set of interests, all while in the stable environment of treatment.”
