SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ebates, the pioneer and leader in cash back shopping and subsidiary of global internet services company Rakuten, today announced that Amit Patel, current GM of Ebates, has been selected as the new CEO. In addition, Adrienne Down Coulson, current GM of Ebates Canada, will become the company’s COO. Patel will succeed Kevin Johnson, who will remain on the board of Ebates. Patel and Coulson will assume their new roles on June 1st.
Amit Patel has extensive experience in online digital marketing and has lead the Ebates team responsible for the company's overall product strategy, third party integration and retention marketing. Prior to joining Ebates in May 2010, Patel was responsible for product development, positioning and packaging at Acxiom, one of the world's largest email marketing service providers. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computing and Management from Loughborough University of Technology in the UK.
“I’m incredibly excited to lead the Ebates team,” said Patel. “Ebates has that rare combination of a market-leading position, a passionate customer base, and an extremely talented team,” said Patel. “I look forward to building on the success and momentum we have achieved.”
“Ebates has established itself as the undisputed leader in cash back shopping under Kevin’s leadership,” said Rakuten, Inc. founder and CEO Hiroshi Mikitani. “Kevin has also been instrumental to the development of a great management team that is ready to take Ebates to the next stage of growth with Amit and Adrienne at the helm.”
“Three years ago, we joined forces with Rakuten and accelerated our US and international growth,” said Kevin Johnson, the outgoing CEO of Ebates. “Amit’s passion for serving customers on a global scale and his deep knowledge of Ebates operations make him ideally suited to leading Ebates to even greater success.”
Adrienne Down Coulson is an experienced digital marketer who has been responsible for the launch and growth of Ebates in Canada. Prior to joining Ebates in 2012, she served as the President and GM of Sequentia Environics, a digital and social marketing agency. Coulson will be relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area to assume her new role.
