AUSTIN, Texas--()--Ben Milam Bourbon earned a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). The rare Double Gold medal is awarded when all members of the competition’s judging panel unanimously give a Gold medal designation based on a blind tasting. Spirits that receive this award are among the finest products in the world.

The 17th San Francisco World Spirits Competition included 43 established spirits-industry experts who together judged a record-breaking 2,100 entries from around the world.

Founded by Marsha Milam—a distant relative of Texas freedom fighter, Benjamin Rush Milam—the 86 proof single-barrel bourbon was officially launched with the opening of the Ben Milam Distillery in Blanco, Texas on March 2, Texas Independence Day, of this year. The award-winning bourbon honors its namesake with a smooth, yet bold flavor.

“Ben Milam is more than just another bourbon. I created this company to honor my cousin’s gallant name and give Texans something we are proud to call our own,” said Milam. "I’m thrilled and humbled that Ben Milam is already receiving such prestigious awards and look forward to the future of this Texas brand. Ben would be proud.”

Ben Milam Whiskey currently has a Texas-wide distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and is available in select Twin Liquors stores throughout Austin and San Antonio.

Marsha Milam and her team are set to launch a rye whiskey in the coming weeks.
