Atlantix Partners Hosts the First Women’s Event at InterGrowth 2017

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--()--Atlantix Partners hosted a panel discussion at the 2017 ACG InterGrowth conference in Las Vegas, NV, titled “Expanding the Role of Women in Private Equity.” This is the first year the conference agenda included an event specific to women, providing an opportunity to discuss the direction and challenges of the growing role women are playing in private equity.

Alexandra Mores, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Atlantix Partners, moderated the discussion between panelists: Kathleen Powers Dunlap, CEO of Girls Who Invest, Susan Hawkins, Partner at BSG Team Ventures, and Tiffany Kosch, Managing Director at CenterGate Capital.

“The truth is that alternative asset classes have a startling low representation of women in senior roles. And even those firms actively working to address the gender imbalance are simply not seeing enough applications from women,” said Kathleen Powers Dunlap, CEO of Girls Who Invest. “That’s why we’re committed to creating a robust talent pipeline and collaborating with the industry to construct new on ramps for women to build successful careers in private equity.”

“There has been movement among middle market private equity firms with respect to implementing initiatives that target both recruiting and retaining women within their firms, some of the strategies include: setting goals for women and diversity hiring, training in-house staff regarding avoiding unconscious bias in recruiting, and supporting onboarding and employment practices that enhance retention,” said Susan Hawkins, Partner at BSG Team Ventures.

Both ACG and Atlantix Partners look forward to continuing this conversation in the future, and working toward expanding roles for women who are working in private equity, or want to work in private equity.

“InterGrowth provided a wonderful platform to facilitate this discussion and highlight the emerging opportunities for women in private equity. The panelists and I were thrilled that the event sold out so quickly, reinforcing the desire for information and need to open a discussion on this topic,” said Alexandra Mores.
