LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Larson O’Brien announced today that it is opening a Washington, DC office. The fast-growing Los Angeles litigation boutique has been active in Washington since its founding in January 2016. Name partner Stephen G. Larson, a former U.S. district judge, successfully tried a case to judgment in DC federal court last summer. Name partner Robert C. O’Brien also arbitrated a government contracts case in Arlington, Virginia, last year. Larson O’Brien is currently representing clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Larson O’Brien partner Hugh Hewitt recently relocated to the Washington area, where he hosts an award-winning radio show during the morning drive-time hours. “With Hugh moving to Washington and our significant client work in the capital, it made sense for us to have a permanent presence in the District,” said Stephen Larson. Like Hewitt, Larson and O’Brien have spent significant time in Washington during their careers as former partners at DC-based Arent Fox LLP and in their prior government service.
In addition to Hewitt and Larson, firm counsel Jerry Behnke, a former Assistant United States Attorney in California’s Central District, and senior associate Melissa Meister, who formerly worked in the Fraud Division at Main Justice in addition to serving as an AUSA, are admitted to practice in Washington, DC.
The firm will share office space with Banner Public Affairs near Capitol Hill. Banner, a government relations and crisis management firm, is led by retired U.S. Senator Jim Talent. Talent, Larson, and O’Brien have a long professional association, and Banner and Larson O’Brien have several overlapping client relationships.
