U.S. Department of Defense Selects ReedGroup's MDGuidelines for Use in Treatment of Nation's Servicemen and Women

ReedGroup sets industry standard in guideline development

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--()--The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that it has selected ReedGroup®’s MDGuidelines® as the sole provider of clinical medical guidelines for all branches of the U.S. military. The solicitation was conducted in a competitive environment, and the ReedGroup proposal was chosen by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED)—the agency of the U.S. Department of the Navy that manages health care activities for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps—as offering the best value to the armed forces.

“We are honored to be selected to serve as a partner to the Department of Defense,” said David Roberts, CEO of ReedGroup. “We share in the DOD’s strong commitment to offering top-of-the-line care and productivity support to the more than 2 million workers who serve our country in the military. Nothing could be more important.”

ReedGroup’s MDGuidelines is foundationally built upon integrity in its approach to guideline development, which centers on transparency and high-quality scientific evidence, and ReedGroup’s ongoing exclusive partnership with ACOEM and the ACOEM clinical practice guidelines.

Physicians treating military personnel are expected to provide the best-possible medical care, and that includes returning patients to work and life activities safely following injury or illness. “MDGuidelines is the world’s most trusted set of evidence-based guidelines, and by partnering with the Department of Defense, we are able to give military providers the highest-quality systematic approach to clinical treatment,” said Joe Guerriero, Senior Vice President of MDGuidelines. “Our guidelines development process sets the industry standard, and we ensured that the DOD had a detailed table explaining how the guidelines are created, all the way down to the professional credentials of the individuals who inform every step of the process,” said Guerriero. “We pride ourselves on having transparency that is second-to-none.”

The contract, which went into effect on March 20, 2017, will be used by more than 4,000 medical personnel, and will impact over 1 million people serving the country every year.
