Zinwave to Demonstrate Complete Distributed Wireless Access System at ACUTA

System Delivers Cellular and Public Safety Service Plus Future-Proof Support Without Hardware Upgrades

DALLAS--()--Zinwave, a global provider of wideband distributed network solutions for in-building wireless, today announced that it will showcase its UNItivity distributed wireless access solution at the ACUTA show being held on March 19-22 at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. In booth 317, Zinwave will demonstrate UNItivity, the industry’s only wireless infrastructure that supports all current public safety and cellular frequencies and can accommodate the addition of future frequencies without the need for hardware upgrades.

Zinwave has extensive experience in deploying its in-building wireless system in universities around the world. UNItivity’s wideband architecture supports frequencies from 150 to 2700 MHz, providing access for any public safety and cellular frequency. In addition, UNItivity uses a streamlined, all-fiber transport design that includes just two main components: a primary/secondary hub, and a thin, ceiling-mounted remote unit. As a result, installation and maintenance is less expensive than with other, more complex wireless systems, and can typically be accomplished by university IT personnel. Zinwave also offers a NEMA-certified enclosure for remote units that protects the remote equipment from water, smoke and other environmental factors.

UNItivity also delivers the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) because it natively handles a wide range of current and future public safety and cellular frequency bands, so expensive equipment upgrades aren’t needed when new bands go into service. Moreover, Zinwave offers a small cell point of interface (SC-POI) that allows institutions to power the system with inexpensive small cells rather than large, costly, full-sized base stations. The SC-POI supports up to four small cells, which can supply different frequency bands to the UNItivity system.

“University students and faculty expect their mobile devices to work everywhere, and public safety infrastructure is a key concern,” said Scott Willis, president and CEO at Zinwave. “By supporting all cellular and public safety frequencies in a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy solution, we enable institutions to meet all of their in-building wireless needs with a system that won’t become obsolete in a few years.”
