Turner Impact Capital Announces Addition of Two Seasoned Executives to Management Team

LOS ANGELES--()--Turner Impact Capital, one of the nation’s largest and fasting growing social impact investing firms, has expanded its management team with the addition of two experienced professionals. Randy Slaughter, a longtime law enforcement and operations specialist, has joined the firm as Senior Vice President of Operations, Safety & Security. Kathleen Ball, a 30-year veteran of the multifamily industry, has also joined as Senior Asset Manager for the firm’s Multifamily Housing Initiatives.

Slaughter is a national leader who has applied best practices in law enforcement by integrating security programs for a variety of real estate asset classes. Based in the firm’s Santa Monica headquarters, Slaughter is responsible for all aspects of safety and security related to properties in the Turner Multifamily Impact Fund, Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund and the newly launched Turner Healthcare Facilities Fund. He will support the Turner Impact team by identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk at each property, drawing on his experience in law enforcement and private-sector security to develop innovative methods to promote safe environments through the use of community-centered approaches to security, local partnerships and advanced technology.

“I am excited to join Turner Impact and begin working to ensure the highest level of safety and security at the firm’s national portfolio of multifamily housing, charter school and healthcare properties,” said Slaughter, whose experience includes work in both local and federal law enforcement. “I look forward to supporting the team as its market-driven investments continue to serve children and families from coast to coast.”

Kathleen Ball is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance and resident experience throughout Turner Impact’s portfolio of multifamily properties. Based in Dallas, Texas, Ball brings extensive expertise in property acquisition due diligence, building rehab and maintenance, new construction, operations, resident and community retention programs, and more. Prior to joining the firm, she held positions with Mid-America Apartments, Bell Partners, AMLI Residential and Trammell Crow, among others.

“Turner Impact’s innovative model of acquiring, preserving and enriching workforce housing communities is a seamless fit with my interests and experience,” Ball said. “I am eager to play a meaningful role on the team as the firm’s housing portfolio continues to dramatically grow in urban markets around the country.”

The additions to Turner Impact Capital come as the firm continues to develop and expand its social impact investment strategies in education, multifamily housing and healthcare, harnessing $2.5 billion in investment potential.

“We are pleased to welcome Randy and Kathy to the growing Turner Impact team,” said Bobby Turner, Principal and CEO of Turner Impact Capital. “These impressive professionals share our passion for harnessing market forces to tackle daunting societal challenges, and possess the skills and experience necessary to deliver results for investors as well as communities.”

About Turner Impact Capital

Turner Impact Capital is an investment management firm based in Los Angeles focused on creating sustainable solutions for many of today’s societal problems by developing and investing in community-enriching infrastructure in densely-populated, underserved communities. The firm seeks to generate superior risk-adjusted financial returns by investing in markets with large existing supply/demand mismatches of relevant community infrastructure (i.e. workforce housing, public schools and community-serving healthcare facilities) and a lack of institutional capital. The firm seeks “profits with a purpose,” recognizing the interdependence between the two and the central role that improving property and the lives of people can play in achieving superior risk-adjusted returns. The Turner Impact Capital leadership team has over 100 years of relevant experience in facilitating more than $6 billion of socially impactful and environmentally responsible real estate investments over the past two decades.
