VPTax Expands Tax Director Services to Salt Lake City

Same Services Used by Evernote, Automation Anywhere, Google, Slack and Bloom Energy Will Be Extended to Utah Startups

SALT LAKE CITY--()--VPTax, Inc. (VPTax), a San Francisco-based professional services firm, today announced the opening of its office in Salt Lake City, Utah. The new office will expand VPTax’s innovative approach to solving the unique tax challenges of startup and high-growth companies to Utah-based businesses. The company’s expertise spans a wide variety of industries with specific focus on tech, medical device and alternative energy companies.

Owned and operated by professionals who come from senior positions or partnerships in the Big 4 accounting firms, VPTax has developed proprietary technology to deliver superior quality at prices far below the competition. Companies such as Google, Evernote, and Bloom Energy and others have benefited from the services provided by VPTax.

"Opening an office in Utah is an exciting opportunity for VPTax. We have taken note of the booming business economy in Utah and are looking forward to working with the outstanding business leaders that have helped to make this market the beacon it is today," said Thomas Brehmer, founder and CEO of VPTax. "When we first heard about ‘Silicon Slopes,’ we weren’t sure what to think. Now it makes perfect sense, and having supported great Silicon Valley companies through the early days, we can bring that expertise and network to Utah’s growing startup community.”

Stephen Day, principal at VPTax, will head up operations for the company’s Utah office. With more than 25 years’ experience as a tax executive, he is looking forward to helping the company expand. Prior to VPTax, Day has held many leadership positions including National Tax Partner at Ernst & Young and Director at Deloitte Tax, LLP.

“VPTax is second to none in its ability to scale their businesses by removing complex tax issues from the equation. Our unique combination of expertise and proprietary technology has helped many great companies rise above the fray,” said Day. “The Utah startup community knows that the administrative burden of taxes can distract them from their core job of building their business. We are entrepreneurs as well and understand the importance of removing that distraction for our clients.”

VPTax’s Utah office is located in the Church & State building at 370 South 300 East in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The renovated church is now home to multiple early-stage businesses and serves as a resource platform for the community. “We are proud to be the new home for VPTax in Utah,” says Church & State co-founder Ron Heffernan. “With their fully managed, scalable tax solution and exceptional client service, VPTax will be a great resource for the companies we support at Church & State and throughout Utah.”

VP Tax will be participating in the GrowSmart Series Church & State on February 23, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Day will be presenting on how companies can get cash back from their R&D spend.
