FOX Business Network Tops CNBC for Record Fourth Consecutive Month

‘Lou Dobbs Tonight,’ ‘Varney & Co’ and ‘CAVUTO: Coast to Coast’ Finish as Top Three Business Programs

January Marks Second Highest-Rated Month Ever in Business Day Demo

NEW YORK--()--FOX Business Network (FBN) finished January as the number one business channel on cable, topping CNBC for a fourth consecutive month in business day viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. January marks FBN’s second highest-rated month in network history in the 25-54 demo for business day, only behind November 2016.

After finishing 2016 with its highest-rated year ever, FBN saw double-digit growth year-over-year. In business day viewership, FBN was up 66% in total viewers (213,000 P2+) and up 45% in the key demo (32,000 A25-54) compared to the same month last year which saw the network’s record-breaking GOP debate. Additionally, in the post-market hours (5-8PM/ET), FBN was up 50% in viewers and 44% in the demo, sweeping CNBC in total viewers. Meanwhile CNBC posted double-digit losses in all day-parts.

FBN’s core slate of programs is up compared to the same month last year, with many shows nearly doubling their averages including Risk & Reward (up 105% in viewers) and Making Money with Charles Payne (up 99% in viewers). Morning with Maria continues its year-over-year growth up 37% in viewers and 40% in the demo, while Varney & Co, Cavuto: Coast to Coast, Intelligence Report with Trish Regan, Risk & Reward, Making Money with Charles Payne and Lou Dobbs Tonight all beat CNBC programming in their timeslots. For the third consecutive month, Lou Dobbs, Stuart Varney and Neil Cavuto had the top three business programs in financial news. Additionally, primetime program Kennedy delivered its highest-rated month ever in the 25-54 demo.

Adding to the record-breaking month, FBN delivered the network’s highest-rated inauguration coverage ever. FBN topped CNBC for the day’s coverage (11AM-5PM/ET) anchored by Neil Cavuto in both viewers and demo. Additionally, FBN’s breaking news coverage and analysis of the Dow Jones hitting an all-time high of 20,000 swept CNBC across the board, nearly doubling them in both total viewers and the demo.
