Painting with a Twist Leads Paint and Sip Category in Entrepreneur Magazine’s 38th Annual Franchise 500®

Company Ranked No. 1 Paint and Sip Franchise for Fourth Consecutive Year

MANDEVILLE, La.--()--Painting with a Twist, America’s original and largest paint and sip franchise, reinforces its status as the nation’s top franchise in the industry by its ranking in Entrepreneur magazine’s 38th Annual Franchise 500® edition as the No. 1 Paint and Sip Studio for the fourth year in a row. The ranking is revealed less than one week after the company’s appearance on CBS’s hit series, “Undercover Boss,” further propelling the popularity of the brand.

Each year, the Franchise 500 acknowledges top companies for outstanding performance in areas including financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the franchise system. The highly coveted list is seen as a gold standard in the franchise industry and dominant competitive measure for franchisors. Additionally, individuals seeking established franchise concepts with proven systems and results use the Franchise 500 as a primary comparative research tool. This year, Painting with a Twist was ranked No. 1 in its category and the Fastest Growing franchise.

“Between ‘Undercover Boss’ and Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 ranking, Painting with a Twist is off to a strong start in 2017. Going undercover allowed me to experience the company from a different perspective. I was able to connect with employees and witness firsthand how passionate they are, especially when it comes to guest experience. Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 ranking nods to that company culture and commitment,” said Renee Maloney, co-founder and CFO of Painting with a Twist. “To remain the top paint and sip studio is an honor and one we intend to keep for years to come.”

In 2016, Painting with a Twist welcomed its 5 millionth guest due to the popularity of return visits averaging once each month, opened 60 new studios, including debuts in four new states, and signed 67 new franchise agreements. The year was also highlighted by rapid growth for the franchise, with 32 percent of it coming from existing franchise owners purchasing additional studios. With a total of 325 studios at the close of this year, Painting with a Twist estimates it will open 60 new studios in 2017. Areas of focus include Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York.

“We have been steadily building momentum over the past four years by increasing our brand awareness and market share, improving our franchise systems, and focusing on exceptional ROI for our franchise partners. Being recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine in 2017 as the leading paint and sip franchise again and to be featured on ‘Undercover Boss’ has ignited tremendous interest from customers and investors alike and we are capitalizing on the opportunities,” said Michael Powers, managing director of Painting with a Twist. “After eight years of successful franchising and rapid growth, our story continues to prove that Painting with a Twist was never a fad but rather a sustainable business opportunity and a favorite local place.”

At Painting with a Twist, guests come together to experience a unique ‘getaway’ that includes friends, paint and the option to BYOB. Led by local art instructors, guests paint on bare canvases using paint and brushes provided by the studio. There are more than 8,000 original pieces of copyrighted artwork, ranging from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of animals, iconic buildings and florals, which have all been conceptualized and produced by Painting with a Twist art instructors.

Not only have Painting with a Twist co-founders and industry pioneers Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney perfected the paint and sip business formula, they are also dedicated to giving back to local communities. The company’s charitable arm, Painting with a Purpose, raises money for local charities through monthly events at all locations. To date, more than $3.25 million has been raised. This past July, that core value came full circle when Painting with a Twist launched its own nonprofit organization, The Painting with a Purpose Foundation, dedicated to giving back to Painting with a Twist artists to further their education and cover expenses due to illnesses, family crises or other emergency situations.
