Jay Rakow, Prominent Media, Entertainment and IP Attorney, Joins Miller Barondess Law Firm

LOS ANGELES--()--Miller Barondess, LLP announced today that Jay Rakow has joined the Los Angeles firm and will focus on Media, Entertainment and Intellectual Property.

Rakow has enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career as a lawyer, business executive, and CEO of two leading nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he served as CEO of ProCon.org, an acclaimed non-profit, nonpartisan civic education website with more than 26,000,000 annual readers, and continues to serve on their Board. He also served as Managing Director of a private equity firm that focused on technology-based ventures.

Rakow is most prominently known through his business association with the late, legendary businessman Kirk Kerkorian. He served as an executive at Mr. Kerkorian’s holding company, Tracinda Corporation, and as President of the Lincy Foundation, the philanthropic organization founded by Kerkorian that contributed more than a billion dollars to charities. Rakow also served as Senior Executive V.P. and General Counsel of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., until Mr. Kerkorian sold the company in 2005.

Previously, Rakow served as Senior V.P. and General Counsel of Paramount Pictures Corp. Before joining Paramount, Rakow enjoyed a successful career as a partner in a prominent law firm, concentrating on business litigation, including class actions, corporate control contests, and entertainment, copyright, patent, and antitrust litigation. There he met and became a law partner of Louis R. “Skip” Miller, who later founded the Miller Barondess law firm.
