UK analyst group Rethink Technology Research has acquired the 20-year-old publication “The Online Reporter” (TOR) from Rider Research of Baton Rouge, USA.

LONDON--()--Rethink will merge TOR into its own Faultline service. Both publications have followed the digital media market since their inception. TOR recently passed its 1,000th issue anniversary which makes it 20 years old, while Faultline was launched in 2003. The more recently launched Internet and TV Reporter (ITVR) from Rider Research will also be merged into the same title. The increased attention that ITVR brought to video content and advertising will be continued in the new expanded service.

Peter White Rethink CEO said, “Both services have covered the digital media industries throughout their most revolutionary years, offering news, opinion and advice to the senior executives who have driven change through digital media and pay TV. Each have carved out strong reputations for being outspoken and seeing ahead of time, many of the industry’s changes. We believe that together the merged brand will continue as the market leader in covering the technology behind pay TV, broadband, content and advertising.

The senior writers from both teams will be retained on the new title and the combined product will be called "Faultline Online Reporter" to reflect the strength of both brands, underscored by “Analyzing disruption in media, broadband and advertising - for over 20 years.”

No terms of the merger were released but Rider Research founder and CEO, Charles Hall will continue to consult for the combined product. The new content will sit behind a paywall on the Rethink website.
