Healthplans.com Survey Finds Insurance Consumers are Unfazed by Election, Plan Cost Biggest Issue

63% of Respondents Still Plan to Buy Insurance for 2017, 28% are Undecided

LOS ANGELES--()--Healthplans.com, the leading website where consumers can compare and choose their health insurance plan, released the results of its annual Consumers Sentiments on Obamacare survey.

The survey showed that only 3% of respondents changed their minds about purchasing a health insurance plan after Trump was elected into office. The survey also confirmed that plan pricing continues to be the primary concern for most consumers.

Other highlights from the survey are as follows:

  • 70% of respondents said they thought plans are too expensive.
  • 1/3 of respondents who said they were not planning to enroll in a health insurance plan in 2017, said it was because plans were too expensive.
  • 53% of respondents said they will shop around for a new plan for 2017, and half said their biggest motivation for doing so was to find a lower-priced plan.
  • 40% of respondents said that news of carriers pulling out of the exchanges for 2017 made them at least somewhat less likely to purchase a plan.
  • Only 40% of respondents said they are satisfied with their current health plan.

The report can be accessed here. The survey polled 1,495 consumers who shopped for insurance plans on Healthplans.com between August 1st and November 10th 2017.
