The CMS Medicare Star Rating system ranks the performance and quality of Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug plans to help beneficiaries and their families compare plans. Star Ratings are calculated each year using a scale of one to five stars (with five being the best), and may change from year to year, depending on how the plan performs. Medicare Advantage plans are rated on their ability to help members stay healthy, assist members in managing chronic (long-term) conditions, ensuring positive member experiences with their health plan, achieving member satisfaction, and providing effective customer service. Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plans are also rated on how well they perform on drug plan customer service, member complaints, member experience with drug plan and drug safety.

“We are very pleased that our plans have achieved this strong rating from CMS,” said David McNichols, president of Anthem Medicare’s central region. “This achievement further exemplifies our commitment to excellence and our ongoing collaboration with providers to ensure consumers have access to affordable, high quality health care.”

These plans are available for purchase during Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), which began Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7. Plans purchased during AEP are effective Jan. 1, 2017. For more information about Anthem’s Medicare plans, call (855) 878-1109 or visit www.anthem.com/shop.
