Amerigroup Nevada Awarded State Contract to Continue Serving the Silver State’s Medicaid Population

LAS VEGAS--()--Amerigroup Nevada, which has been serving the state since 2009, was awarded a new contract by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy to continue serving members who participate in the state’s Medicaid managed care program.

Amerigroup is one of the Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) selected to serve Nevada to coordinate care for the state’s Medicaid population. Services under the new contract, which is pending approval from the Board of Examiners, become effective July 1, 2017.

“Amerigroup has served Nevadans through the Nevada Medicaid program since 2009 and we are honored to have once again been selected to continue serving residents who need our help,” said Eric Lloyd, president of Amerigroup Nevada. “Each and every day, we help our members gain access to high quality health care services that can effectively improve their health and lives. We have made significant progress so far, and we remain committed to continuing to build better, healthier lives through our strong community based organization, state and provider relationships.”

In addition, Amerigroup remains committed to ensuring that our members have expanded access to high quality health care services for the whole person. Amerigroup is a leader in the health care delivery and technology arena highlighted by its telemedicine services, enabling members to obtain access to care regardless of their geographic barriers. One example of our commitment to expanding access to high quality care was providing both English and Spanish-speaking Amerigroup members telehealth apps, LiveHealth Online and Cuidado Médico, that would allow them to have a face-to-face video visit with a physician for non-emergency conditions. Amerigroup also partnered with WELL CARE Services in Southern Nevada to transform the delivery care systems exclusively for Amerigroup members by improving access to behavioral and physical care. Through this program, Amerigroup provides an innovative approach to delivering whole person care coordination to vulnerable homeless populations with complex needs at WELL CARE facilities located in Las Vegas and Reno.

Amerigroup Nevada’s new contract enables the health plan to continue coordinating behavioral, physical and vision health benefits for members who participate in the Nevada’s Medicaid program. Through its innovative approach and customized services, Amerigroup will continue transforming Nevada’s health care delivery system and improving lives across the Silver State.
