Trinamic Introduces PANdrive™ - A New Family of Smart Motors

Smart Motors Enable Rapid Application Development

Stepper motors are always ideal when a lot of torque and precise, reliable positioning is needed at low speeds. Intelligent PANdrive motors with integrated control systems form a simple interface between the digital and the physical world.

HAMBURG, Germany--()--Trinamic Motion Control GmbH & Co. KG, a leading supplier of semiconductors, electronics and mechatronic solutions in the fields of motor and motion control, is proud to announce the arrival of a new family of PANdrive smart motors. The PD42-1070 family was developed specifically to simplify the application of advanced power control technology.

The new stepper motors meet NEMA16 standards and will feature amplifiers preconfigured for the motor types and controlled via step and direction signals. By default, all amplifiers will include the silent PWM control mode stealthChop™, and a microPlyer™, which transforms a starting microstep resolution of 16-microsteps-per- full-step into a sinusoidal power curve with 256 microsteps.

Trinamic will present the drives to the public at Electronica 2016, in Hall A4 at booth 513.

"Developers are under increasing pressure to shorten development cycles and bring new products on the market faster", explains Michael Randt, founder and CEO of Trinamic. "The new family of drives has been specially developed with this in mind, in order to make the development process faster, simpler and safer than ever."

Motors with integrated control systems starkly simplify product design, especially for applications that are already outfitted with step and direction output controls, e.g. 3D printers and small desktop CNCs. The thermally optimized and tested electronics housing allows a compact and cost-effective device design.

Drives with a holding torque of 0.27 to 0.29 Nm are available now at a suggested retail price of USD 100. Matching cable kits are also available to help accelerate development. The drives are immediately usable upon delivery, but if necessary, can be configured for application via a UART interface with the free TMCL-IDE.
