Humavox Partners with Starkey Hearing Technologies to Bring Wireless Charging to Hearing and Audio Devices

The wireless charging innovator is announcing a partnership with one of the world’s leading hearing solution manufacturers in order to implement wireless charging in its audio devices, simplifying the day-to-day lives of consumers

TEL AVIV, Israel--()--Humavox (www.humavox.com), a creator of wireless charging technology, is partnering with a global leader in state-of-the-art hearing technology, Starkey Hearing Technologies (www.starkey.com), in order to advance the next generation of audio devices with the introduction of wireless charging. Together, they will simplify the lives of hearing technology consumers by allowing users to bypass the often impossible task of changing very small disposable batteries within tiny devices.

Next generation hearing technologies are becoming much smaller and more sophisticated, providing plenty of benefits to those suffering from hearing loss, most importantly, smaller and more discrete devices. However, changing the batteries in these tiny audio devices can be difficult, especially for a portion of hearing technology users, some of whom are elderly and may lack the dexterity to change these small batteries sometimes several times a week.

By integrating Humavox’s wireless charging into Starkey’s advanced hearing devices, the companies are enabling the transition from disposable batteries to rechargeable batteries, which will redefine the user experience. No longer will users have to fumble with their devices in order to change the disposable batteries. Instead, users will be able to simply drop their hearing device in its case and, regardless of its orientation in that case, the device will be recharged seamlessly.

“This partnership represents an additional step for Starkey in offering the most advanced hearing solutions available,” said Tim Trine, Chief Technical Officer at Starkey Hearing Technologies. “We look forward to utilizing Humavox’s superior wireless charging technology to continue leading the hearing industry with new innovations that simplify people’s lives.”

“We at Humavox are all about blending charging into everyday life so that users don’t even have to think about charging their devices,” said Omri Lachman, CEO & Co-Founder of Humavox. “This is even more critical when it comes to the hearing impaired, who have to switch out tiny batteries regularly, and are sometimes seniors who struggle with such tasks. We are excited to be partnering with one of the world’s top hearing solution manufacturers in order to solve this critical pain point and streamline charging for the hearing impaired community.”

As part of their collaboration, Starkey Hearing Technologies will integrate Humavox’s wireless charging technology within a variety of devices from its family of wireless hearing technology brands, including the most advanced and comprehensive hearing solutions available. The technology developed by Humavox fits not only standard hearing devices (e.g. BTEs and RICs), but also custom devices, wireless earbuds, hearables and personal audio amplifiers, that are smaller and unique in shape and therefore pose a challenge in integrating recharging capability.

Humavox’s flexible hardware platform, ETERNA®, wirelessly powers rechargeable batteries through utilization of their proprietary radio frequency (RF) technology. ETERNA includes the smallest power receiver available in the market, making it able to fit into the tiniest of electronic devices, e.g. hearing aids. This is of significant value to Starkey and other hearing solution manufacturers as well as manufacturers of various hearables, such as wireless earbuds, for commercial use.
