WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Through its first massive open online course (MOOC), Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business integrates research-based academic lectures with the real-world experiences of global executives to offer Global Business in Practice. The free course opens on Monday, October 24 via the edX platform and participants may join at any time.
Global Business in Practice will explore the impact of globalization across industries, geographies, economies, and more. Participants will learn from Georgetown professors, as well as global business leaders including the global head of private equity for Blackstone, the executive vice president and COO of Audi of America, the president and CEO of Estée Lauder Companies, the vice chairman at Colgate-Palmolive Company, and the CIO and vice president for information technology solutions at the World Bank, among others. These executives will share how they address today’s most pressing global business challenges.
The course is a modified version of an online module taught to McDonough School of Business students as part of a curriculum that prepares them to become global business leaders. It includes high-quality lecture videos, poll questions, discussions, peer assessment exercises, and sources for further learning. For more information, view the preview video or visit the course’s page on the edX platform.
“The voices of global business executives makes this course unlike any other MOOC available,” said Ricardo Ernst, the leader of the MOOC and director of the school’s Global Business Initiative. “We are breaking traditional educational paradigms by integrating the voices of practitioners into our academic lessons to provide a truly distinctive experience. We hope participants can apply both the classroom and experiential lessons to their current careers or studies as they seek to make an impact as a global business leader.”
