Birmingham-Based Automation Personnel Has Teamed up with Wright Transportation and Nationally Known Retailer, La-Z-Boy Southeast to Donate / Deliver Much-Needed Furniture to Louisiana Flood Survivors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--A tractor-trailer donated by Wright Transportation and fueled by Automation Personnel Services, Inc. picked up 60 pieces of gently used furniture from La-Z-Boy Southeast at the Richland, South Carolina facility on Tuesday. The items will be delivered to the Church at Addis in Louisiana on Thursday, October 13th at 8:00 a.m.

Leslie Nordness, part of the husband and wife team that founded Automation Personnel Services, Inc., is a native of Louisiana. The couple started #AutomationDonationStation within days of the massive flooding that affected Baton Rouge and other parishes on August 12. Leslie has been delivering truckloads of personal items to Louisiana, working with Blue Star Mothers, The Cajun Army, Cajun Relief Foundation, Storms Shelters, as well as others out helping people of South Louisiana in need.

La-Z-Boy Southeast is a family owned business that operates six stores in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. “Twice a year we hold a trade-in sale where we ask our customers to donate gently used furniture in exchange for a discount on a new La-Z-Boy purchase,” said Martha Brown, President and CEO La-Z-Boy Southeast. “Traditionally, these donations are shared with charities in the cities where our stores are located. Following the news of the devastating floods in Louisiana, we were compelled to gather donations and deliver to the area for families in need of home furnishings. It is a small donation on our part, but one we hope will help those missing the comforts of home.”

“We will continue to do all that we can to help as many families as we can get back on their feet,” said Mrs. Nordness. “It’s amazing to see how resilient these survivors are and we appreciate everyone who has donated to this cause.”

For more information on how the donated furniture will be distributed please contact the church directly.
