PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--SmartThings today announced an integration with Google Home as one of the anchor launch partners. Google Home is a new voice activated speaker, designed for hands-free help from the Google Assistant to get answers from Google, stream music, manage everyday tasks, and control smart home products. With this integration, SmartThings is furthering its commitment to voice control so consumers can interact with devices in even more ways as they build a smart home that’s more secure, efficient, and delightful.

“Artificial intelligence has enabled more sophisticated voice control, and consumers now desire to interact with devices in a more natural and conversational way that fits seamlessly into their everyday lives,” said Alex Hawkinson, CEO and Founder of SmartThings. “At SmartThings, we’re committed to bringing voice control to the smart home and partnering with the most innovative products like Google Home so consumers can integrate with all of their favorite brands as we continue to expand our open ecosystem.”

At launch, Google Home can control a variety of Works with SmartThings lighting and thermostat products from leading brands like Philips, Osram, Leviton, Honeywell and Ecobee. Users can simply say “Ok Google” to seamlessly turn on lights, change light color, or adjust thermostats. With Google Assistant and its powerful artificial intelligence, Google Home does not restrict customers to speak commands in a specific manner and encourages users to have a more natural, conversational interaction with their smart home.

SmartThings is also now integrated with Weave Cloud Platform. Weave is Google’s communications platform for IoT that enables device setup, phone-to-device-to-cloud communication, and user interaction from mobile devices and the web. As an open platform, SmartThings will continue to support Zigbee, Z-wave, WiFi and local internet connected devices.

Google Home is available for pre-order starting today and will be available nationally at Best Buy, Target and Walmart in early November. For more information on the Google Home integration and other Works with SmartThings products, please visit: www.SmartThings.com/Works-with-SmartThings
