New England Technology Services Firm, The Walker Group, Announces that its 2016 TechImpact Award will be Given to PV Pure

-Award comes with a $10,000 cash prize-

FARMINGTON, Conn.--()--The Walker Group, one of New England’s leading technology services firms, is pleased to announce that the 2016 Walker TechImpact Award will be given to PV Pure (http://www.pvpure.com). PV Pure specializes in on-site, solar-powered water purification that can provide portable water at a fraction of the cost of commercially available water; their systems can be used anywhere in the world to produce clean drinking water. The award, which comes with a $10,000 cash prize, is being made possible through The Walker Group’s ongoing partnership with reSET, a Hartford-based organization that serves social entrepreneurs throughout the region and beyond. The award, which will now be given on an annual basis, recognizes a technology driven business whose mission is to help solve an environmental and/or social problem.

"As reSET’s founding partner, and being a social enterprise ourselves, we want to see more social innovation coming out of New England’s entrepreneurial ecosystem," said Jessica Rich, director of operations at The Walker Group. "And PV Pure is a great example of such advancement.”

Ojala Naeem, managing director of reSET, hopes to partner with other companies like The Walker Group who are interested in supporting social enterprises that address issues in other areas such as health, education, environment, and economic development. "We start by helping our partners come up with appropriate and meaningful criteria for selecting the kind of social enterprise startup they would like to support. Then, based on this selection criteria, we do the legwork of finding, vetting, and judging the most scalable, impactful startups. They are then presented to our partners who get the satisfaction of seeing their dollars go directly to social entrepreneurs building great companies that take on issues worldwide. It's a win-win-win."

The award will be presented by The Walker Group’s CEO, Kate Emery, on October 7th at the company’s TechImpact Summit (http://www.thewalkergroup.com/techimpact/) The conference’s edition will focus on three top trends in technology: CyberSecurity, Cloud/Hybrid Cloud and Hyperconvergence.
