Owens Corning to Present Four Sessions at CAMX Show in Anaheim

TOLEDO, Ohio--()--Composites experts from Owens Corning (NYSE:OC), a leading global producer of glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems, will deliver four presentations at CAMX, the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo to be held this week in Anaheim, California. In addition, the company’s booth will feature products and solutions for a range of applications serving the automotive, building and construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors.

The presentations to be delivered by Owens Corning composites experts include:

Reinforcements of Concrete – Next Frontier for Composites. Global Product Manager Mikhail Vorobiev will discuss the benefits of glass fiber reinforced polymers (GFRP) as a replacement for steel reinforcements to improve durability and corrosion issues associated with reinforced concrete structures. GFRP benefits include corrosion resistance, light weight, enhanced strength, and long service life, making it a key solution for future composite growth aligned with a number of megatrends impacting the infrastructure market. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. PT (Room 207A).

Where Glass Reinforcements Can Create Value for Low- and High-Pressure Pipe Manufacturers. Global Product Manager Bryan Minges will share examples of how improved reinforcement solutions can help create value for low- and high-pressure pipe manufacturers in application development, pipe design optimization, and manufacturing efficiency. The presentation will address opportunities for composites growth driven by improved performance, new application development, and lower operating cost for filament winding applications supporting the water distribution, petrochemical, infrastructure, marine transportation, and power and energy sectors. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. PT (Room 210C).

How to Grow SMC Technology Applications. Dr. Sanghamitra Sircar, Global Product Manager for SMC, will share her perspective on the renaissance of sheet molding compound (SMC) as a solution for a variety of applications to address opportunities in the global industrial, building and automotive markets. The presentation will discuss major markets and drivers for SMC, as well as the range of glass fiber solutions and unique modeling capabilities that can help the industry think differently about part optimization based on material and design enhancements. Thursday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (Room 207C).

Creating Shared Value & Competitive Advantage for Composites Through Sustainability. Jesus Hernandez-Torres, Senior R&D Leader, Product Stewardship and Sustainability, will discuss opportunities to grow the adoption and impact of composites in a variety of industries by leveraging the environmental benefits of transitioning from conventional materials to composites. The presentation will explore how sustainability can serve as a differentiator in recycling, product transparency, materials health, carbon neutral products, and material substitution. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. (Room 207D).
