Cowen Prime Services Wins Hedgeweek USA Award 2016

Named Best North American Prime Broker for the Second Consecutive Year

NEW YORK--()--Cowen Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:COWN) (“Cowen” or the “Company”) today announced that Cowen Prime Services LLC (“Cowen Prime”), the prime services division of Cowen, has been named Best North American Prime Broker at the 2016 Hedgeweek USA Awards. The award is based on a peer review system whereby Hedgeweek’s readers, including institutional and high net worth investors, hedge fund managers and other industry professionals at fund administrators, prime brokers, law firms, custodians and advisers, select the top performer in a series of categories.

Jack D. Seibald, Global Co-Head of Prime Brokerage Services, said, “We are proud that Hedgeweek readers voted for Cowen Prime as the Best North American Prime Broker. As former investment managers, we understand the complexity of launching and managing an alternative investment fund. Our role is to support clients with best-in-class tools and services that will improve the operational and administrative aspects of their business. This includes robust custody, execution and clearing, portfolio management and reporting, and operational support solutions. Operating under the Cowen banner over the past year has also afforded us the opportunity to support our clients with additional services such as sophisticated equity research, investment conferences and non-conflicted trade execution.”

This award is the second consecutive year, and the third in four, that Cowen Prime has been recognized as “Best North American Prime Broker” by Hedgeweek USA. Earlier this year, Cowen Prime was named “Best Global Prime Broker” by Hedgeweek Global for the third consecutive year.
