Celprogen Introduces 3D Printed Scaffold Human Heart That May Someday Be Utilized in Heart Transplants

TORRANCE, Calif.--()--Celprogen Inc., a leader in the Stem Cell Research and Therapeutics industry for stem cell research since 2002, today announced that they have successfully finished printing 3D hearts from flexible Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) material scaffold that was populated with adult human cardiac stem cells. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSCbrlFfTP0.

These 3D printed human hearts were coated and seeded with human adult cardiac stem cells. The 3D scaffold was populated with two T225 human Cardiac Stem Cells 36099-26-T225, and with human adult cardiac cells 36044-15-T225, the scaffold was coated with ECM prior to seeding the cells. This flexible PLA scaffold allows the seeded cardiac stem cells to potentially contract. The 3D print was reduced from adult 17-year-old heart to 1/3 its original size.

The present invention relates to 3D organ printing programs at Celprogen that identifies potential future use in transplant of major organ systems. At present, Celprogen is validating the 3D human printed heart from flexible PLA.
