Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia Awarded State Contract to Continue Serving State’s Medicaid Population

Amerigroup will also Continue Serving Georgia’s Foster Care Population through the Georgia Families 360° Program

ATLANTA--()--Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia, which has been serving the state for more than a decade, was awarded a new contract by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) to continue serving members who participate in the state’s Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® managed care program. DCH also awarded Amerigroup the Georgia Families 360° contract to continue providing health care coverage for Georgia’s Foster Care, Adoption Assistance and select youth in the non-secure Department of Juvenile Justice populations, which Amerigroup has managed since 2014.

Amerigroup is one of four Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s) selected to serve Georgians and the lone entity designated to coordinate care for the state’s foster care population. Services under the new contract become effective July 1, 2017.

“Amerigroup has served Georgians through the Georgia Medicaid program for more than a decade, and we are honored to have been selected to continue serving residents who need our help,” said Fran Gary, president of Amerigroup Georgia. “Our members are our families, and each and every day, we strive to help them gain access to high quality health care services that can effectively help them improve their health and lives. We have made a lot of progress in the past decade, and we look forward to continuing to build better, healthier futures.”

Amerigroup is a leader in the health care delivery and technology arena highlighted by its work with Georgia Partnership for TeleHealth (GPT) to provide telemedicine services to members in a timely fashion, regardless of their geographic barriers to access. Amerigroup has also worked with nearly 1,000 Georgia medical providers to transform their delivery systems into Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMHs) to improve quality of care for members and better control costs. Additionally, since March 2014, Amerigroup has been the single managed care organization responsible for coordinating the care of Georgia children in foster care, children receiving adoption assistance and select youth in the juvenile justice system. Through this program, Amerigroup provides an innovative approach to delivering holistic care coordination to vulnerable youth with complex needs.

Amerigroup’s new contract enables the health plan to continue coordinating medical, behavioral, dental and vision health benefits for members who participate in the Georgia Families Program. The Georgia Families Program includes various state Medicaid programs, including Planning for Health Babies (P4HB), PeachCare for Kids® and the Georgia Families 360° program. Through its innovative approach and customized services, Amerigroup will continue transforming Georgia’s health care delivery system and improving lives across the state.
