Teams, Sponsors Announced for Inaugural Colorado Startup Games

Seven local businesses will square off in competition to raise money for nonprofits of their choice

DENVER--()--Teams from seven Denver and Boulder-area businesses will meet Saturday, October 15, to raise money in support of local nonprofits. The first annual Colorado Startup Games will be held at the Glitter Dome in the River North Art District.

The field of competitors for Colorado’s inaugural Startup Games include: Blinker, Ibotta, Circle Graphics, ReadyTalk with The Dialog Lab, HomeAdvisor, Sphero and ReturnPath. The teams will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals – and prize money for charity – in a variety of games like Foosball, Beer Pong, Jenga, Trivia and more.

The sponsors helping make the Colorado Startup Games possible are Westword Magazine, Built In Colorado, Buffalo Trace, MillerCoors, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Mile High Cornhole and The Dialog Lab.

The public is welcome to join the activities during the Startup Games. Spectators can root on their favorite startup and try their hand at the games in Spectator Alley. The suggested $10 donation gets you an entry with drink tickets and a t-shirt. More information and ticket reservations can be found on the Startup Games event page.

Competitors and other members of Denver’s thriving business community don’t have to wait until October for their chance to meet the Startup Games crew and help raise money for local charities. At the Denver Startup Week Job Fair in the Buell Theatre Lobby on Wednesday, September 14, the Startup Games will hold a cornhole contest with unlimited entries for all in attendance. Entries consist of a $5 donation to Patriot Boot Camp, and the player with the most points at the end of the day will win a remote-controlled BB-8 droid from Sphero.

“With so many great Colorado businesses stepping up to make a positive impact in their community, the Colorado Startup Games is set to become a lasting tradition of fun and philanthropy," said Sara Reeves, executive director of the Startup Games. “We’re excited to start that tradition well before the Startup Games’ opening ceremony with our cornhole contest during this week’s Job Fair.”
