UQM Technologies to Unveil Next Generation Electric Vehicle Motor Inverter at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Expo

  • The UQM Next Generation PowerPhase® Motor Inverter will be on display in UQM booth 938. With a volume less than 7 liters and mass less than 10 kilograms, the new motor inverter will output 600A and operate at voltages up to 550V.
  • The new inverter is designed for extremely high reliability and provides 135 kW peak and 100 kW continuously to power Light and Medium-Duty commercial vehicles as well as high performance passenger vehicles.
  • UQM Technologies’ VP of Sales and Marketing, Adrian Schaffer, will be a featured panelist at the show. Session to be held 8:45 am to 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 14. The show will held on September 13-15, in Novi, Michigan.

LONGMONT, Colo.--()--UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (NYSE MKT: UQM) will display its next generation inverter at the 2016 Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo at booth number 938. This latest technology from UQM features a motor inverter with a very compact form factor for optimized packaging, high reliability and low cost. The newest component of the improved UQM EV propulsion system is designed to provide the high reliability needed for light to medium-duty commercial vehicles as well as the performance needed for larger passenger vehicles or sports cars. This technology announcement comes on the heels of the major announcement of the PowerPhase®DT Drivetrain partnership with Eaton and Pi Innovo, which positions UQM well globally with the PowerPhase® HD propulsion system paired with the Eaton 2-speed transmission and the Pi Innovo transmission control unit.

This new inverter technology will be discussed by UQM in the conference session titled, “Examining technologies and approaches that are improving the efficiency and performance of electric and hybrid vehicles.”

Production ready in 2018, the next generation of the UQM PowerPhase®Pro propulsion system will feature this new inverter paired with an updated motor and software and the system will support the functional safety requirements needed for these modern applications. The system will provide up to 135 kW of output power for commercial vehicle propulsion systems and allow more than 100 kW on a continuous basis.
