UL EHS Sustainability Partners with SESHA to Develop Safety Courses for the Semiconductor Industry

The 18-course suite addresses safety concerns for workers throughout the production process

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--()--UL EHS Sustainability today released a suite of 18 courses developed in partnership with the Semiconductor Environmental Safety & Health Association (SESHA), the industry’s leading EHS membership organization. The courses, offered individually and in four multi-part bundles, will be sold on the SESHA OnDemand website, through UL’s PureSafety, and via course licensing opportunities.

“We are delighted to partner with SESHA, the world’s leading safety and health organization for the semiconductor industry,” said Mark Ward, general manager, UL EHS Sustainability. “Their deep knowledge of the specific challenges in the industry, combined with our specialized adult learning and online training production capabilities, will help ensure the safety of workers throughout the semiconductor and related industries.”

“UL and SESHA set out over two years ago to develop a series of EHS training courses specifically designed for personnel working in semiconductor and high technology settings,” said Sue Creighton, a member of the SESHA Board of Directors and senior EHS and risk manager at UltraTech, Inc. “We worked hard to develop content that would challenge and teach learners in a way that students would retain for a long time.”

The four course bundles cover general EHS, chemical safety, hazardous energy, and fabrication worker safety, and fill a gap in online training for the industry. The suite allows EHS training managers to select and assign courses according to the hazards of their jobs. The semiconductor and high-tech industries can be potentially hazardous, unless very well-controlled by safe work practices and precautions. Finding quality, job-specific training on those hazards can be difficult. This new suite of online courses provides a comprehensive safety training foundation for SESHA partners.
